Emery: Kubo? I’m focused on those who want to wear Villarreal’s shirt

Villarreal are enjoying a fine start to life under Unai Emery as the team compete for a top four place in LaLiga Santander, but that hasn’t been enough for Takefusa Kubo.

The 19-year-old was left out of the squad against Zamora and Levante in the club’s last two outings, having been an unused substitute in the three matches before that amid speculation he could end his loan from Real Madrid early.

“I’m focused on the games and people who have their head here with us,” Emery responded when asked about the speculation about Kubo.

“With all respect to Take, I have to concentrate on Villarreal and the players who want to be here, compete, play, win and wear yellow tomorrow.”

While Kubo could leave the club this month, they have brought in Etienne Capoue from Watford.

Capoue‘s come to play as a pivot [holding midfielder]; he’s a specialist and is coming off a great game in the Copa del Rey,” Emery said of his latest signing.

“There’s the option to start again if he’s good. We have other alternatives which we’ve used, but he’s the specific player to play as a No.6, we’ve brought him for that.” Read More
