Bayern Munich interested in Tottenham striker Harry Kane; Spurs understood to have rejected verbal offer of £60m from Bundesliga champions; Kane has one year remaining on his contract
Tottenham do not want to sell Kane – who has one year remaining on his contract – but Bayern and manager Thomas Tuchel appear to be ready to test the club’s resolve.
Kane broke Tottenham’s all-time goalscoring record in February with the winner against Manchester City.
It saw Kane move beyond Jimmy Greaves’ tally of 266 goals for Spurs, which had stood since 1970.
The next target in Kane’s sights is Alan Shearer’s record Premier League haul of 260 goals.
After a fine individual campaign in which he scored 30 goals, despite the north London club finishing eighth and having three head coaches, the forward is now only 48 away from passing Shearer’s tally.
Speculation over Harry Kane’s future has been raging for months, with his current contract at Tottenham set to expire in 2024. Spurs must weigh up whether to cash in on a prized asset now or risk losing him for free next summer, and he is certainly not short of suitors.
Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have all been strongly linked with Kane, but it now appears that Bayern are leading the race for his signature. The Bundesliga club tabled a €70m (£60m/$76.7m) bid earlier this week, which was rejected, but they are expected to come back with an improved offer after reportedly agreeing a deal with the striker’s representatives.
