Barcelona have successfully beaten numerous competitors in securing the signing of the highly talented Brazilian young player, Vitor Roque.
- Clubs agree deal. Contract sent to player. Player heading for Camp Nou.
Barcelona and Athletico Paranaense have reached an agreement for the transfer of 18-year-old forward Vitor Roque. The deal is worth €35 million (£30m/$38.4m) with potential add-ons, and the total amount could reach up to €71m (£60m/$77m). Vitor Roque is expected to join Barcelona in 2024, although it is uncertain whether the transfer will take place during the January window or the following summer.
AND WHAT’S MORE: Vitor will sign a contract until 2030. The transfer fee will be paid in instalments, making it the biggest in the history of Brazilian football. Bonuses will be given based on the number of matches played, goals scored, and individual and team awards. THE BIGGER PICTURE: This deal, which has been weeks in the making, is seen as a significant achievement for Barcelona. Sporting director Deco is credited with successfully competing against clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain to secure the player.
Barcelona fans will be relieved to hear that the club has secured a deal, following their loss to rival team Real Madrid in signing 18-year-old Arda Guler. The team is set to start their pre-season preparations in July, with a tour scheduled in the United States.
