USMNT and Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner pays tribute to teenager cancer patient after Gold Cup win

Matt Turner, the goalkeeper of the United States men’s national team, honored a young cancer patient following their victory against Canada.

The USMNT beat Canada on penalties after a 2-2 draw in 120 minutes. Turner saved two spot-kicks in the shootout. After the game, he removed his USMNT shirt to reveal one with the words “RIP Malia”. This shirt was a tribute to Malia Jusczyk, a 14-year-old New England Revolution fan who recently passed away from pancreatic cancer. Turner also tweeted a heartfelt message, as he had previously played for New England before joining Arsenal.

Turner decided to pay tribute to Malia’s memory following the USMNT’s win and is currently getting ready for the upcoming semi-final against Panama. His future plans involve striving to make a lasting impact while playing for his national team, and once he completes his national duties, he will then compete with Aaron Ramsdale for the top goalkeeping position at Arsenal.
