On the move? Manchester United name price for Anthony Elanga as Everton begin talks with winger

Everton have started talking to Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga as they negotiate a price for his possible transfer.

  • Everton is in discussions with Elanga.
  • United value Elanga at £10 million.
  • Player’s limited playing time prompts sale. The text suggests that the player’s limited playing time has led to a decision to sell the player.

Manchester United have put up a £10m price tag on the 21-year-old Swedish international, who was previously close to joining Everton on loan in January. However, the move was blocked by Manchester United. According to the Manchester Evening News, the player is now for sale as he has struggled for minutes under Erik ten Hag.

Everton’s appointment of Sean Dyche as manager has maintained their interest in recruiting Elanga. Elanga has played 55 games for Manchester United since his debut in 2021, scoring four goals. However, his last goal was in February 2022. In 2023, he has only started one game in the League Cup against Charlton and has not been included in the matchday squad for 10 of the last 13 Premier League matches.

Everton has a history of signing players from Manchester United, and their interest in Elanga is consistent with this trend. Notable players such as Tim Howard, Phil Neville, and Louis Saha have all made the journey to Merseyside from Manchester. Wayne Rooney also moved from United to Everton in 2017, and most recently, Donny van de Beek joined Everton on loan from the Red Devils in 2022.

Several clubs including Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, and PSV have shown interest in Elanga in the past. Despite initial discussions, no solid plans were made. Whether Elanga will be able to secure a move in the summer to find more playing time is still uncertain.
