The CFCB First Chamber has announced decisions regarding clubs subject to last season’s FFP monitoring in 2022/23.
The CFCB First Chamber, led by Sunil Gulati, completed the assessment of the break-even requirement for the seasons 2019-2022. This was the final evaluation based on the “old” Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play regulations.
The CFCB First Chamber found that Royal Antwerp FC (BEL) and Trabzonspor A.Ş (TUR) did not meet the break-even requirement. Settlement agreements were reached with both clubs.
The settlement agreements aim to support clubs during the transition from the old Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations to the new financial sustainability framework. The objective is for clubs to comply with the stability requirements defined in the UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Sustainability Regulations by the 2025/26 season.
Both clubs have agreed to contribute €2 million each, with €300,000 being a fixed payment and the remaining €1.7 million being conditional on compliance with settlement agreements. Failure to meet the targets may result in additional sporting measures.
FC Barcelona (ESP) has been fined €500,000 for improperly reporting non-relevant income related to the disposal of intangible assets (excluding player transfers) in the financial year 2022.
Several football clubs, including Manchester United FC, Konyaspor, and APOEL FC, have reported minor break-even deficits and have been fined varying amounts.
While discussing football clubs Riga FC, NK Olimpija Ljubljana, and ŠK Slovan Bratislava, it was revealed that they were fined €10,000 each for not providing accurate break-even information as required.
FC Porto from Portugal and RSC Anderlecht from Belgium were both given conditional sanctions by the CFCB. FC Porto successfully met the target, but RSC Anderlecht did not and was fined €100,000.
The CFCB First Chamber continued monitoring nine clubs under settlement regime in the 2022/23 season.
LOSC Lille (FRA) successfully met the requirements of the settlement and has been granted permission to leave the settlement regime.
Several European football clubs, including AC Milan, AS Monaco FC, AS Roma, Beşiktaş JK, FC Internazionale Milano, Olympique de Marseille, and Paris Saint-Germain, have successfully met their financial targets for the year 2022. The Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) will continue monitoring their compliance with the settlement agreement in the upcoming season.
Istanbul Başakşehir FK (TUR) has been fined €400,000 for not meeting their financial targets in 2022.
