Harry Maguire is contemplating his future after losing the captaincy at Manchester United due to Erik ten Hag’s decision.
Several Premier League clubs, including West Ham, are closely monitoring England international Maguire for a potential transfer.
West Ham is considering a loan or permanent deal for the 30-year-old defender, but wages could be an issue.
United manager Ten Hag has always maintained any decision will effectively rest with the player, who is contracted to the club until the summer of 2025.
The club thanked Harry for his three-and-a-half years as captain and will soon announce the new captain after informing the players.
The announcement for the new captain of United will not be made before their pre-season trip to New York. They will be traveling to the USA after playing a friendly match against Lyon at Murrayfield on Wednesday.
West Ham is considering Perr Schuurs from Torino, Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen, and Luiz Felipe from Real Betis as alternative targets to Maguire.
