Cameron Smith is starting his title defence alongside US Open champion Wyndham Clark and Xander Schauffele. Unfortunately, world No 1 Scottie Scheffler will not be playing due to an injury. Instead, Tommy Fleetwood and Adam Scott will be joining the group.
Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, and Justin Rose have been grouped together for the first two rounds of The 151st Open at Royal Liverpool.
Rory McIlroy, the former Open champion, will be teeing off early in hopes of continuing his recent success and ending his long wait for another major victory.
Rory McIlroy, a four-time major champion, will be the main attraction during the afternoon coverage on the opening day of the tournament. He will tee-off at 2.59pm local time and start his rounds at 9.58am on Friday for the remaining days of the competition.
Cameron Smith, the defending champion, is in a different draw from US Open winner Wyndham Clark and Xander Schauffele, who has consistently performed well in major tournaments.
In the next golfing event, Scottie Scheffler, the current world No. 1, will be competing alongside Tommy Fleetwood and former Masters champion Adam Scott. Scheffler has been in excellent form, recording top-fives in his last seven worldwide starts and consistently finishing within the top 12 since October.
The grouping for the opening day of the PGA Championship includes the current champion Brooks Koepka playing alongside Patrick Cantlay and Hideki Matsuyama, while Jordan Spieth is grouped with Matt Fitzpatrick and Jason Day.
In the same group for the upcoming event are golfers Rickie Fowler, Shane Lowry, and Robert MacIntyre.
Matthew Jordan, a member of the Royal Liverpool, will have the privilege of hitting the opening tee shot at the tournament. Richie Ramsay and Branden Grace will join him in the opening threeball.
