Former Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy joins Ligue 1 club Lorient following not guilty verdict in rape trial

Ligue 1 club Lorient have recently signed Benjamin Mendy, the former Manchester City defender who was acquitted of rape charges, as a free agent.

Mendy was cleared of rape charges after a recent retrial.

A left-back player, who was previously cleared of rape charges, has recently been signed by Lorient after being released from Manchester City.

The full-back has signed a contract until 2025 with the Ligue 1 side.

Mendy played for City but was released when allegations surfaced.

The player appeared 75 times for the club and won four Premier League titles.

Mendy is a French football player who was part of the national team that won the 2018 World Cup.

He has not kicked a ball since August of 2021, when he featured for City in a 1-0 loss to Tottenham.

The 29-year-old previously played his football in France, playing for Marseille, Le Havre, and Monaco prior to moving to the Etihad Stadium.
