‘I’m disappointed in him’ – Ousmane Dembele wants transfer to PSG and Barcelona ‘can’t do anything’ about it, admits Xavi

Ousmane Dembele expresses desire to move to Paris Saint-Germain, according to Barcelona’s head coach Xavi Hernandez.

Barcelona boss Xavi has confirmed that he expects Ousmane Dembele to leave for Paris Saint-Germain in the coming days, after the French club triggered his release clause. Dembele’s departure comes as a blow for Barcelona, who had hoped to receive double the amount PSG paid for the 26-year-old. Xavi has expressed his disappointment at losing the talented player.

“Dembele has told us that he wants to leave,” said Xavi. “I am a little disappointed. He has a proposal from PSG and we can’t do anything. We can’t compete with the proposal made to him from France. This is the market. Footballers who do not want to be at Barça, they have to be let go.” Discussing the idea of life without Dembele, he continued: “We had a stage prepared for this possible loss and now we have to strengthen ourselves. Ousmane’s loss weakens us.”

Barcelona’s squad is weakened by the departure of Dembele, but they have other talented attackers like Robert Lewandowski, Ansu Fati, and Lamine Yamal. They will also be searching for a replacement for Dembele.

Barcelona recently won a friendly match against Milan, concluding their pre-season preparations. However, Barcelona is facing frustration due to Paris Saint-Germain triggering Ousmane Dembele’s contract clause. This leaves Barcelona with less than a month to find a replacement for the French player.
