Andre Onana is prepared to ignore any criticism he receives for being scored on from the center of the field during his debut at Old Trafford for Manchester United.
Onana, the new goalkeeper for Manchester United, has faced a challenging start with two friendly defeats during their pre-season tour and being chipped from 40 yards by Florain Sotoca of Lens.
Onana told MUTV afterwards of losing his bearings and making a costly error against French opponents: “Like I always say, I am responsible for everything, especially when we concede goals. I’m the big man at the back so I take all the criticism, all the responsibility is on me.”
United claimed a 3-1 victory after an impressive goal by Sotoca. Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Casemiro scored for United. Onana is excited to start the 2023-24 campaign.
He added: “I think this year will be great, I am very excited for the coming games. I’m already excited for Wolves, but we will have to prepare well because it’s not going to be easy. Everybody is working hard and I’m very confident and positive everything will be right if we do the right things.”
Manchester United has made several significant signings during the summer transfer window, including goalkeeper Onana, midfielder Mason Mount, and striker Rasmus Hojlund. Onana will make his competitive debut for United against Wolves on August 14.
