Lucas Glover wins the Wyndham Championship for his fifth PGA Tour title, while Justin Thomas narrowly misses the FedEx Cup playoffs due to a dramatic moment at the 18th hole.
Lucas Glover won the Wyndham Championship, securing his fifth career PGA Tour title and a spot in the FedEx Cup playoffs with a fortunate bounce on the final hole.
Glover won the tournament with a strong performance, finishing two strokes ahead of Henley and An. Horschel, who was tied for the lead after three rounds, ultimately finished in fourth place.
Lucas Glover’s victory at the PGA Tour’s regular-season finale propelled him from 112th to 49th place in the FedEx Cup points standings, securing his spot in the upcoming playoffs in Memphis.
“Last time I played Memphis, I played very well, so excited to get back there,” said Glover who last won on tour at the 2021 John Deere Classic. “Just let this soak in and get my body and my mind right and get back to work Tuesday or Wednesday.”
Adverse weather conditions caused a two-hour delay in a golf tournament. The top players, Glover and Henley, were tied for the lead at 20 under, with a two-stroke advantage over An.
Henley started strong, gaining momentum after a delay and taking the lead with a birdie. However, his round took a turn for the worse as he ended with three consecutive bogeys, losing his advantage.
The ball bounced off a volunteer’s cart, saving Glover from a worse lie at the par-4 18th hole.
Glover, with a two-shot lead, played it safe, reaching the green in three strokes and securing the victory with a clutch 8-foot par putt.
Billy Horschel fell short of making the FedEx Cup Playoffs, finishing 90th in the standings despite needing a top-two finish.
