Manchester City are willing to offer £60m for Brazilian midfielder Lucas Paqueta, who played a crucial role in helping his team, West Ham United, secure victory in the Europa Conference League last season.
Manchester City is in talks with West Ham United for the possible transfer of midfielder Lucas Paqueta. City is reportedly willing to offer £60m for the Brazilian player.
There has not been a formal bid for the player from the City.
West Ham player Paqueta may consider leaving the club if Manchester City makes a bid, despite still having four years left on his contract.
West Ham is not willing to sell Paqueta this summer, even if they receive a satisfactory offer. The club’s concern is that they would not have sufficient time to find a suitable replacement prior to the start of the Premier League season this weekend.
Paqueta’s contract includes an £85m buyout clause, but it can only be activated in the following summer.
The player would find it hard to reject a move to Manchester City due to the chance to work with Pep Guardiola.
West Ham has suffered a significant blow as their captain and midfielder, Declan Rice, has recently departed for Arsenal in a high-profile transfer worth £105m.
