Harry Maguire: West Ham’s transfer deal to sign Manchester United defender falls through

Harry Maguire was removed as the captain of Manchester United and there was an offer from West Ham that was accepted. Although Maguire played in 31 matches for Manchester United last season, he did not participate in the recent victory over Wolves.

The deal for West Ham to sign Harry Maguire from Manchester United has collapsed.

Manchester United would have little time to find a replacement if Harry Maguire were to depart at this late stage of the transfer window, according to Sky Sports News.

Erik ten Hag, the manager, has expressed his support for Maguire, stating that he considers him an integral part of the team and is content with him staying and competing for a spot in the squad.

Harry Maguire was stripped of the Manchester United captaincy and expressed his disappointment at Ten Hag’s decision. He was set to join West Ham for £30m, but the transfer has now fallen through.

A source close to the player has told Sky Sports News: “Harry respects West Ham and David Moyes, but to be clear there was never an agreement in place between Harry and West Ham.

“The process was less advanced than portrayed in the media. For example, at no point has Harry spoken to David Moyes.

“Harry remains settled at United, loves the club and believes he will get plenty of opportunities to play this season.”
