Jurrien Timber: Arsenal defender sidelined for long-term period after sustaining ACL injury on Premier League debut

Timber, the Arsenal defender signed from Ajax for a hefty fee of £38m, unfortunately suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury during a match against his former club. As a result, he will require surgery and will be sidelined for an extended period.

Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber sustained a severe anterior cruciate ligament injury during his Premier League debut against Nottingham Forest, leaving him facing a long period of recovery.

Arsenal’s £38m summer signing, the Dutch defender, suffered an injury during their 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest and was subsequently replaced by Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Arsenal’s 22-year-old player requires surgery for his injury and will be out of action for an unspecified period of time.

Reacting to the news, Timber said on Instagrm: “Gutted to share my injury is more serious than expected, especially after the warm welcome I’ve received.

“I wanted to repay you on the pitch, which will not be possible for the forthcoming period. I’m blessed with a lot of great people around me, together we will do anything to get back as soon and strong as possible.

“For now I’ll be supporting our team from the stands of course. Thanks for making me feel at home in such a short period of time, see you at The Carpet.”

Timber, who recently joined Arsenal from Ajax, made two senior appearances so far. This includes the Community Shield victory against Manchester City. He also played in the match against Forest.
