Big-spending Chelsea still a work in progress

Mauricio Pochettino expressed satisfaction with the progress of his new team in Chelsea’s program, following consecutive victories over Luton and AFC Wimbledon, which have boosted the morale at Stamford Bridge.

The recent defeat of Chelsea by Forest is seen as a setback for Pochettino, despite some positive signs in previous fixtures.

Chelsea’s team, under the guidance of coach Pochettino, is still a developing project with a young squad. The average age of the starting XI against Forest was 24.5, and Pochettino’s expertise in nurturing young talent makes him the ideal choice for the job.

Chelsea’s new manager, Pochettino, will bring his attractive style of football to the club but understands the pressure to show improvements after a record-breaking transfer window spending.

Nottingham Forest’s key player, Brennan Johnson, recently left for Tottenham, which was a big loss for the team. However, Steve Cooper’s squad has managed to strengthen despite this departure.

Not a single player from the seven signings Forest made on the transfer deadline day was included in Cooper’s starting line-up. However, they still managed to shock Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, making their result on Saturday even more impressive.

Forest, having made several additions to their squad, are now better equipped to handle the challenges of the Premier League. Notably, full-back Nuno Tavares made his debut, while other players like Nicolas Dominguez and Callum Hudson-Odoi are still to be integrated. This is a significant improvement from when Forest were promoted to the top flight last year.

Cooper will be pleased with his summer business but losing Johnson is a setback. Forest secured their first win at Chelsea in over 28 years, rewarding Cooper’s efforts. Despite narrow defeats at Arsenal and Manchester United, the team now has a solid foundation to build upon after the international break.
