Jadon Sancho hits back after Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag reveals training concerns

Jadon Sancho’s form has been inconsistent since his move to Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 for £73m. He has scored 12 goals in 82 appearances for the Red Devils.

Jadon Sancho responds to criticism and claims to have been a scapegoat, addressing the reasons behind being dropped from the Manchester United squad for the Arsenal game.

Manchester United suffered a 3-1 defeat at the Emirates Stadium, with two stoppage-time goals sealing their fate. The 23-year-old player did not participate in the match.

Sancho was dropped from the squad for their recent matches due to sub-par training performance, as revealed by coach Ten Hag.

“Jadon, on his performances in training we did not select him,” the United boss said after the defeat.

“You have to reach a level every day at Manchester United and we can make choices in the front line. So for this game he was not selected.”

Writing on X, formerly known as Twitter, Sancho said: “Please don’t believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is (sic) completely untrue, I have conducted myself in training very well this week.

“I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into, l’ve been a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair! “All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team.

“I respect all decisions that are made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and (am) grateful to do so which I know every week is a challenge.

“I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what!”

Sancho’s form has been inconsistent since joining Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund for a record-breaking fee of £73m in 2021. He has scored 12 goals in 82 appearances for the Red Devils.

In his first season under Ten Hag, the player had a strong start but faced a period of inactivity from October to February. He missed out on playing during this time, including the World Cup, and instead focused on a personal winter fitness program.

Sancho had a successful season, contributing seven goals and three assists, including playing in the Carabao Cup final win against Newcastle.
