Coco Gauff eyes Grand Slam glory in New York but Karolina Muchova is first up in the semi-finals

Coco Gauff and Karolina Muchova will compete in the US Open semi-final, while Madison Keys will face Aryna Sabalenka.

Coco Gauff is determined to make her mark at the US Open as she faces Karolina Muchova for a place in the final, despite the high expectations placed upon her.

Coco Gauff, an American tennis player, made history by becoming the first American teenager since Serena Williams in 2001 to reach the semi-finals of her home Grand Slam for the first time.

In a dominant display, the teenager won her match against Jelena Ostapenko with a score of 6-0 6-2. She now moves on to face Karolina Muchova with the support of the crowd and a large TV audience.

“The dreams never came with the people in the stands and autographs. That was never in the dreams,” Gauff said. “It was just, like, the trophy.

“If you want to win, there’s two matches left, you can’t think like that,” the sixth seed continued. “I’m still in the mindset that I’m in the beginning of the tournament. That’s what I have learned in the past from being in quarter-finals: ‘Before, I would think, Close to the end. But right now, I have the mentality that I told myself, I still have another two weeks to play’. So that’s where my mind is at. Then, obviously when it’s over, it’s over.

“But right now, I’m just saying, another two weeks.'”

Coco Gauff, the talented tennis player, made it to the final at Roland Garros but was defeated by Iga Swiatek. Her coach, Brad Gilbert, commends her humility and strong work ethic as they strategize for her upcoming match.

“She does a lot of things really well, so you work with the things you have and you just try to get better,” said American Gilbert, who is also a commentator and analyst for ESPN.

“Her best asset is being able to use more of the court and extend the points and I maybe moved her eight or nine feet on the return because so many players are up close. I’m just giving her the opportunity to use the things she does well and then ultimately she’s the one who executes the game plan and wins or loses the match.”

Czech tennis player Muchova acknowledges the athleticism and perseverance of her opponent Gauff, noting her ability to chase down every ball.

“Doesn’t do many mistakes. So she has kind of all the strokes. So very, very good player from all the aspects.”

Coco Gauff achieved a notable victory over Karolina Muchova at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati, adding to her impressive record of titles this season. She previously claimed victories in Auckland and Washington DC.
