João Palhinha extended his contract with Fulham until 2028. The new agreement doesn’t have a release clause. The Portuguese player almost joined Bayern Munich for €65m on the last day of the transfer window.
Joao Palhinha signed a new contract with Fulham. The contract is valid until 2028 and does not include a release clause. He almost moved to Bayern Munich for €65m on deadline day.
The agreement fell through at the last moment. The player was already in Munich, but Fulham couldn’t find a replacement in time.
Fulham rejected a £45m offer from West Ham for the 28-year-old player.
Palhinha signed with the west London team for £20m from Sporting Lisbon in July 2022. He played in 35 Premier League matches and made the most successful tackles in the league. Under the guidance of Marco Silva, the team finished 10th in the table last season.
Palhinha may continue playing for Fulham until 2029. Fulham has the option to extend his contract for another 12 months.
“I feel happy,” Palhinha told FFCtv. “A lot of history happened these few weeks for me, you heard a lot of things about my future, but I’m just focused on my work at Fulham.
“I always have 100 per cent commitment with this club, I have all the respect for the club, for the fans. Since the first day, they supported me a lot, and me and my family felt this since the first moment that I arrived here.
“I will give everything that I have. It was always like that, on the field, outside of the field, in our dressing room with my teammates.
“I have a lot of respect for everyone here in Fulham and I am ready to start again, to give all my best, and I want to achieve good things.”
