Declan Rice: Arsenal midfielder expected to be fit to face Manchester City after avoiding serious injury

Declan Rice was substituted at half-time in Sunday’s match between Arsenal and Tottenham because of a back problem. Tests revealed that the midfielder does not have a serious issue, and he may be able to play against Bournemouth on Saturday.

Declan Rice is not seriously hurt and might play for Arsenal against Bournemouth this Saturday in the Premier League.

Rice had tests on Monday for back discomfort he felt during the north London derby on Sunday. He was substituted at half-time.

The scans showed that the problem is not serious, but the midfielder still feels discomfort and won’t be able to play in the Carabao Cup game against Brentford on Wednesday.

Rice and Trossard are both being evaluated for their injuries before the Bournemouth game.

Rice is expected to be ready for Arsenal’s game against Manchester City on Sunday October 8.

Mikel Arteta will hold a press conference on Tuesday before the Brentford match. He is expected to give updates on the fitness of Gabriel Martinelli and Thomas Partey. Jurrien Timber will be out for a long time due to a serious knee injury.

After the draw with Spurs – which saw Jorginho, Rice’s replacement, make an error for one of the visitors’ goals – Arteta said of the summer signing: “He had a back injury. He was really uncomfortable during the match.

“We had to take him out. We have to assess him. It’s strange for someone like him to come off.”

Rice started every Arsenal game after joining from West Ham this summer and scored a late winner against Manchester United earlier this month.
