Antony, a player from Manchester United, has come back to the UK from Brazil. He will meet with the Greater Manchester Police to answer questions about allegations of abuse.
Sky Sports News has reached out to Manchester United to inquire about the Brazilian player’s return to training and potential availability for selection.
Antony, 23, joined Manchester United from Ajax last year for £86m. He has been on leave from the Premier League club since September 10.
Antony is accused of physically attacking his ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin according to an interview she gave to the Brazilian outlet UOL.
The player has denied the accusations made against him by Rayssa de Freitas and Ingrid Lana.
Antony said in a statement on September 10: “I want to reiterate my innocence of the things I have been accused of, and I will fully cooperate with the police to help them reach the truth.”
The winger has been in Brazil since September, when he joined the national team. However, he was later withdrawn from the squad due to allegations.
Antony has come back to England after assisting the police in Brazil. He will be meeting with GMP soon. Antony is currently on leave and is expected to give his phone to the police for examination.
The player was questioned by Brazilian police in June but has not been arrested or charged.
