Premier League top scorer Haaland scored twice and assisted Foden to secure a victory for Manchester City in the derby. With this win, Man City moved up to third place, just two points behind the current leaders, Tottenham. On the other hand, Manchester United is currently in eighth place and has lost six out of the last eight matches against Pep Guardiola’s team.
Erling Haaland scored two goals and Phil Foden scored another to help Manchester City secure a commanding 3-0 victory over Manchester United in the derby. This win takes the defending champions up to third place in the Premier League, just two points behind the leaders, Tottenham.
City lost their last two away games in the Premier League. However, they were too strong for United, who have some problems to solve. Onana made some great saves, otherwise the score could have been worse.
Haaland and Foden both scored hat-tricks in a City win when these teams met a year ago. Since then, the gap between the Manchester rivals remains large.
Haaland first scored from a penalty. The referee, Paul Tierney, used the pitchside monitor and punished Rasmus Hojlund for pulling Rodri in the box.

City have won six out of the last eight derbies and were not troubled in this one. McTominay’s shot in the first half forced Ederson to make a save and Rashford missed a chance in the second half. Guardiola, in his 20th Manchester derby, has mastered this match-up.
United manager Erik ten Hag couldn’t find a way to cause an upset. His team remains in eighth place, trailing Spurs by 11 points.
Man Utd will play against Newcastle at Old Trafford in the Carabao Cup fourth round, which is a repeat of last season’s final. Meanwhile, Manchester City will host Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday, November 4th.
