ATP Finals: Carlos Alcaraz defeated on debut by Alexander Zverev in Turin

Alexander Zverev won against Carlos Alcaraz in Turin with a score of 6-7 (3), 6-3, 6-4. This was Alcaraz’s first time participating in the ATP finals. Unfortunately, Alcaraz has now lost three matches in a row. Zverev expressed his satisfaction, saying, “It’s always great to defeat the best players in the world, and he is certainly one of them.”

Carlos Alcaraz lost to Alexander Zverev in his first ATP Finals match in Turin.

The 20-year-old couldn’t participate in last year’s event because of an injury. Unfortunately, his shaky performance continued with a 6-7 (3) 6-3 6-4 loss in his first round-robin match.

Alcaraz won the first set on a tie-break after a difficult situation, but then Zverev took the lead in the second set and played more consistently. The match showcased some impressive shots from both players.

Alcaraz lost three consecutive matches: one against Grigor Dimitrov in the fourth round of the Shanghai Masters, and another against Roman Safiullin in his first match at the Paris Masters.

Zverev, who has won the event twice before, has recently recovered from an ankle injury that kept him out of the game for seven months. He has regained his form and performance in the second half of the season.

He had a scary moment in the third set when he twisted his ankle, but he downplayed any worries later. He mentioned on Amazon Prime Video, “It’s great to defeat the top players in the world, and he is certainly one of them. Winning on this court again feels special.”

Earlier, Neal Skupski from Britain began his doubles campaign with his Dutch partner Wesley Koolhof and emerged victorious.

Koolhof decided to end his successful partnership with the Wimbledon champions. They are now playing in their final tournament together.

They won the match against Australian players Rinky Hijikata and Jason Kubler with a score of 6-3 6-4.
