Emma Raducanu withdraws from December exhibition in China as she continues recovery from surgery

Emma Raducanu has been out of action since April due to surgery on her wrists and ankle. She has decided to withdraw from the December exhibition in Macau. However, she has been intensifying her training at the National Tennis Centre in London in recent weeks.

Emma Raducanu withdrew from a December exhibition in China because she is still recovering from surgery.

The 21-year-old Briton has not played in a while due to surgeries on her wrists and ankle. As a result, her ranking has dropped to 289.

Raducanu had originally planned to come back to the WTA Tour in the autumn. However, she is now aiming to participate in the exhibition Macau Tennis Masters event on December 2-3.

The event organizers have confirmed that Raducanu will no longer be participating in the lineup due to an injury.

Raducanu will have a protected ranking of 103 next year. This is because she has been inactive for over six months. With this ranking, she may qualify for a spot in the main draw of the Australian Open in January.

The winner of the 2021 US Open hasn’t advanced beyond the second round in any Grand Slam since winning at Flushing Meadows.

But she has increased her training recently at the National Tennis Centre in London, both in the gym and on the court. Last month, she mentioned her excitement about returning to the circuit.

“I think the biggest thing from the last few months was how much I missed the sport,” she told BBC Radio 4.

“I think that was the standout thing – how much I missed training, how much I missed my body hurting and feeling tired and dragging yourself through certain exercises when you don’t feel like it.”

Raducanu doesn’t have a coach right now. She ended her partnership with Sebastian Sachs in June and is currently being supported by the Lawn Tennis Association staff.

Her most recent match was a loss to Jelena Ostapenko at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart in April.
