Chelsea are prepared to recall Andrey Santos in January as they’re not happy with current situation on loan at Nottingham Forest.

Andrey Santos’ loan spell at Nottingham Forest will be cut short as Chelsea have decided to recall him in January, it has been reported. This news comes as no surprise considering the limited playing time he has had at Forest. Despite being fit, Santos has only made one Premier League appearance, coming off the bench for less than 10 minutes in the 3-0 defeat against Liverpool in late October.

Chelsea’s decision to activate the break clause in Santos’ loan deal shows their desire to reassess his development and potentially send him out on loan again. Strasbourg, who share the same owners as Chelsea, are reportedly interested in securing his services for the rest of the season. However, Chelsea will need to cancel one of their other loan deals if they wish to send Santos to Strasbourg or any other foreign team. This is because the Premier League team already have the maximum number of international loans allowed, with seven players currently out on loan outside of England.

It’s worth noting that Santos agreed to join Chelsea in January of this year but was immediately loaned back to Vasco da Gama for the remainder of the 2022-23 campaign. Thus, he is yet to make his competitive debut for the Blues.

Chelsea’s decision to recall Santos demonstrates their commitment to nurturing his talent and ensuring that he gets the necessary playing time to continue his development. Whether it’s at Forest, Strasbourg, or another club, Santos will have to seize the opportunity whenever it arises and prove himself on the field.
