Ja Morant is injured and will not be playing for the rest of the season.

Ja Morant’s Season-Ending Injury

The Memphis Grizzlies have confirmed that Ja Morant, their 24-year-old star, will be staying out for the remainder of the season due to a shoulder injury. This unfortunate development comes right as Morant made a comeback in December after a 25-game suspension imposed on him by the NBA back in June. The suspension was a consequence of his status as a repeat offender due to an incident where he displayed a gun during an Instagram live session.

Following an MRI, it has been revealed that Morant has suffered a tear in the underlying labrum, a ring of tissue that protects the glenoid socket of the shoulder joint. The team has shared that he will need to undergo surgery to repair the damage and will subsequently miss the rest of the season, with the franchise expressing confidence in his full recovery by the start of the 2024-25 season.

This season, Morant has had limited time on the court, only being able to play 9 games after his suspension. The Grizzlies have held a record of 6 wins and 3 losses with Morant, bringing their overall season record to 13-23.

The talented young player from Dalzell, South Carolina, is currently in the first year of his substantial $197 million, five-year contract with the Grizzlies. Prior to his injury, Morant showcased impressive stats, posting averages of 25.1 points and 8.1 assists per game, highlighting his significant impact on the team’s performance.

This injury is undoubtedly a setback for Morant and the Grizzlies, but with his determination and the support of the franchise, fans can look forward to his triumphant return in the future seasons.
