Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana made headlines following a car accident involving EastEnders star Dean Gaffney. It was reported by The Sun that the 23-year-old was driving his Lamborghini when the incident occurred. Gaffney sustained a broken collarbone after being “catapulted” into the air, requiring hospital treatment.
Fofana, who passed a breathalyser test, was driving at the end of a night out. Despite the accident occurring in December 2022, Gaffney chose not to publicize the incident, expressing that he did not hold Fofana responsible. At the time, Fofana had recently joined Chelsea from Leicester, and he was in the early days of his career with the club.
Unfortunately, Fofana’s season with Chelsea has been marred by injury, as he has been sidelined due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury, preventing him from featuring in any matches this season. Since his transfer to Stamford Bridge, he has only managed to make 20 appearances for the London team in all competitions. Nonetheless, Fofana is focused on his recovery and aims to return to action promptly.
As Fofana continues his rehabilitation journey, Chelsea is gearing up for their upcoming Carabao Cup match against Middlesbrough, aiming to reverse a 1-0 deficit from the first leg against the Championship side. Fofana’s presence on the field will be missed, but the team remains hopeful for his speedy recovery and eventual return to the lineup.
