Bayern Munich is considering Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Xabi Alonso, and Zinedine Zidane as potential successors to Thomas Tuchel.

The situation at Bayern Munich regarding the future of manager Thomas Tuchel has intensified in the wake of their recent 3-2 loss against Bochum, which has widened the gap with Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the Bundesliga to eight points. This outcome, coupled with their 1-0 defeat to Lazio in the Champions League last-16 first leg, has put the spotlight on Tuchel and the team’s underwhelming performance.

Despite the disappointing results, Bayern’s current stance is to see out the remainder of the season under Tuchel and then evaluate the situation. However, preparations for a potential managerial change are quietly underway behind the scenes. Xabi Alonso, a former player for the club and the current manager of Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen, is reportedly the preferred successor should a parting of ways occur in the summer.

Furthermore, the possibility of appointing Zinedine Zidane, the ex-Real Madrid head coach, has also been under consideration. Zidane’s previous successes in managing a top European club make him an intriguing prospect for Bayern Munich. Additionally, former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is being viewed as a shock interim solution if the need for a mid-season change arises.

The familiarity of Bayern’s sporting director, Christoph Freund, with Solskjaer’s managerial attributes has sparked interest in the Norwegian’s potential contribution to the club. However, as of now, no substantial discussions regarding this contingency plan have taken place.

Notably, Solskjaer has been unattached to any managerial role since his dismissal by Manchester United in November 2021. The ongoing developments at Bayern Munich signal an uncertain period for Tuchel’s tenure and keep the football world on the lookout for potential managerial changes in the upcoming transfer window.
