Suspended Miami Heat center Thomas Bryant received a warm welcome and a glittering championship ring from his former Denver teammates before promptly leaving the arena. The NBA had made an exception for Bryant to be present at the game because it was the Heat’s only visit to Denver that season. Typically, suspended players are not allowed at the arena on game nights, but this was a special circumstance.
The Nuggets organized a touching ceremony for Bryant, who had been part of the team’s championship victory last June. Bryant was shown a video tribute on the big screen, followed by warm embraces and congratulations from his former teammates. After slipping the championship ring on his hand, Bryant tapped at his heart in appreciation as the crowd cheered, acknowledging his contributions to the team’s success.
As Bryant wrapped up a three-game suspension for his involvement in an altercation against New Orleans, he embraced the moment before leaving the building. Although he had played sparingly for Denver after being acquired from the Los Angeles Lakers, his presence was significant during the team’s postseason run. The Nuggets had previously handed out their championship rings before their first game of the season, honoring other players from the championship roster who made a return to Denver with their new teams. Bryant, who had signed with the Heat as a free agent over the summer, is now contributing to his new team’s success, averaging 4.2 points and 3.1 rebounds over 25 games for Miami.
