Chelsea fans showed their dissatisfaction in the recent match against Brentford, directing strong chants towards Mauricio Pochettino and owner Todd Boehly. According to journalist Jack Rosser, the fans expressed their discontent by urging Pochettino to “f*ck off” and using derogatory language to describe Boehly, in a display of open rebellion in the away end. In addition to this, they also voiced their support for former manager Jose Mourinho and expressed their frustration towards disgraced former owner Roman Abramovich.
Despite opening the scoring through Nicolas Jackson, Chelsea were unable to secure the win, being pulled back by Mads Roerslev and conceding a stunning bicycle kick by Yoanne Wissa. Axel Disasi’s late equalizer with a powerful header earned the Blues a point, but they continue to struggle, currently sitting in 11th place. Their recent defeat in the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool only added to their woes.
The team’s performance in the league has been concerning, with only one victory in their last five games, against Crystal Palace. Their position, trailing 17 points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa, reflects their challenging season. On the other hand, they maintain a 15-point lead over the 18th-placed Luton.
Looking ahead, Chelsea’s upcoming match against Newcastle on Monday March 11 carries importance, particularly for Pochettino. The subsequent quarter-finals of the FA Cup against Leicester present an opportunity for the team to pursue the one remaining trophy within their reach this season. These upcoming fixtures will be crucial for Chelsea as they seek to regain their form and compete at a higher level in the league.
