Ralf Rangnick is very close to becoming Bayern’s next coach

Bayern Munich is preparing for a potential change in leadership next season, as current president Herbert Hainer confirmed that discussions with Ralf Rangnick to succeed Thomas Tuchel are at an advanced stage. Rangnick, the current Austria coach, previously expressed his intention to look for new opportunities this summer and has set his sights on the Allianz Arena.

In an interview with Sky Sport, Hainer stated, “We have advanced talks with Ralf, but we have to wait a few more days. If it ends up being confirmed, it would be a very good option for us. Let’s hope it won’t be too long. We’ll have to see when everything closes, but we’re close. Everything is well underway.”

However, the sporting director, Max Eberl, maintained a more cautious approach, refraining from making any definitive announcements. Eberl emphasized the importance of maintaining stability amidst ongoing discussions, particularly highlighting the significance of their upcoming tie against Madrid. “We want security in the planning but we manage it internally. The tie against Madrid is fundamental for us, and we want to finish the season in the best possible way,” Eberl mentioned after the tie against Madrid.

Reports from Sky Sport suggest that Bayern is prepared to offer Rangnick a contract extension until 2027. The club is also aiming to reach an agreement with the Austrian FA by compensating them to release Rangnick from his current contract, which runs until 2026. This potential transition marks an important phase for Bayern Munich as they strategize for the forthcoming seasons.
