José Mourinho has agreed a two-year deal to become the manager of Fenerbahce.

Jose Mourinho, having been dismissed by Roma in January, is on the verge of joining Fenerbahce. The 61-year-old is poised to ink a two-year contract, with the possibility of extending it for an additional 12 months. This exciting move comes after Fenerbahce clinched the runner-up spot in the Turkish Super Lig this season and is set to partake in the Champions League qualifying rounds. Although Mourinho has not yet arrived in Istanbul, the final negotiations are underway to solidify an agreement that could potentially lengthen his tenure until the summer of 2027.

Fenerbahce’s impressive performance in the Super Lig, accruing 99 points and experiencing only one defeat throughout the season, unfortunately culminated in a second-place finish behind city rivals Galatasaray, resulting in the departure of head coach Ismail Kartal. As the team prepares to enter the next season’s Champions League at the second qualifying round, Mourinho perceives this new position as a stimulating challenge. While Fenerbahce boasts a rich history in Turkish football and remains one of the most successful clubs, they have not secured a league title since 2014.

Following his departure from Roma, Mourinho has been without a managerial role after overseeing the team for two-and-a-half seasons. The esteemed 61-year-old tactician has amassed an impressive haul of 21 major honours throughout his tenures with Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Roma. Furthermore, he steered Tottenham to the Carabao Cup final before his departure in 2021. Notably, Mourinho stands as the sole manager to have triumphed in the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League.
