Spaniards Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal to Team Up in Olympic Doubles

The Spanish tennis duo of Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal is set to make a formidable team at the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris. The highly anticipated partnership will see the 21-year-old Alcaraz, who recently clinched his third Grand Slam title at Roland Garros, joining forces with the 22-time major winner Nadal, known for his record 14 championships at the same prestigious venue.

With the Olympic Games commencing on 26th July, the tennis tournament will kick off a day later on the clay courts of Roland Garros, home to the renowned French Open. The announcement of Alcaraz and Nadal teaming up has been met with great enthusiasm, with Spain’s national team coach, David Ferrer, expressing confidence and excitement about this pairing.

“One pair, which I think everyone knows and was hoping for, is Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal,” said Spain’s national team coach, David Ferrer. “Rafa and Carlos will be playing together in Paris.”

It’s worth noting that Nadal, who claimed an Olympic gold in Beijing in 2008, returns to the Olympics once again, while Alcaraz is set to make his Games debut. This partnership holds special significance as Nadal’s participation in the Games was uncertain due to a series of injuries earlier this year. However, his return to the clay court season in April paved the way for his participation in the Paris Games, which are speculated to be his final appearance, with retirement being considered at the end of this season.
