Andy Murray, Jack Draper, Cam Norrie, Dan Evans, and Katie Boulter have been selected to represent Team GB in the upcoming Paris Olympics. This will mark Andy Murray’s fifth appearance in the Olympics, with the Scottish tennis star having previously secured two gold medals in 2012 and 2016. His experience will no doubt be a valuable asset to the team. Joining him are promising newcomers Jack Draper, Cam Norrie, and Dan Evans, who will be making their Olympic debuts.
In the women’s singles tournament, Katie Boulter will also represent Team GB in her Olympic debut, bringing her talent and determination to the international stage. Notably, Emma Raducanu declined a wildcard entry, despite being offered one of two places reserved for former Grand Slam winners by the International Tennis Federation (ITF). Raducanu, at 21 years old, has faced challenges due to her injury-enforced time away from the sport, leading to her current ranking.
In addition to the singles events, Tokyo 2020 Olympians Neal Skupski and Joe Salisbury will team up to compete in the men’s doubles, further adding to Team GB’s representation in the tennis competition at the Paris Olympics.
Team GB Chef de Mission Mark England expressed his pride and optimism, stating, “It’s a huge privilege to once again announce our tennis players for Team GB. The calibre of the team gets stronger with every Games, and it is great to see a mix of returning and first-time Olympians.” With a blend of seasoned champions and promising newcomers, the tennis lineup for Team GB promises to deliver thrilling performances and inspiring moments at the Paris Olympics.
