Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez, an Argentinian international, has recently been convicted of failing to provide information about the driver of a Porsche Cayenne, which could potentially lead to a driving ban. The 23-year-old footballer, who recently achieved success by winning the World Cup with Argentina in December 2022, completed a remarkable transfer to Chelsea from Benfica for a British record fee of £106.8 million. Prior to his move to Benfica, Fernandez started his professional career at Argentinian club River Plate before making a significant impact at the Lisbon side. Despite his rapid rise in the footballing world, the driving offence has brought unwanted attention to the young midfielder.
The incident in question occurred when Fernandez allegedly failed to identify the driver of a Porsche Cayenne, resulting in charges brought forward by Dyfed-Powys Police. Although two other charges related to driving without third-party insurance and failing to stop at a red light were withdrawn, the conviction for failing to disclose the driver’s information stands.
Fernandez, whose address was listed as the Chelsea training ground in Surrey, was required to attend the sentencing hearing at Llanelli on September 11. As per court documents, his attendance was mandated to assess the presence of mitigating circumstances, which may include exceptional hardship, that could potentially affect the decision regarding disqualification from driving.
This unprecedented turn of events has raised concerns among fans and football enthusiasts alike, as they hope for a positive resolution for the talented midfielder. The spotlight is now on Fernandez as the football world awaits the outcome of the sentencing hearing, with both his club and national team anxiously watching the developments closely.
