Dortmund’s young talent, Youssoufa Moukoko, is on the brink of joining Marseille, joining former Manchester United player Mason Greenwood. According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, the 19-year-old forward has reached an agreement on personal terms with the Ligue 1 club, despite attracting interest from five other European teams.
Marseille is reportedly in negotiations with Dortmund over a potential initial loan deal for Moukoko, including a compulsory buy option clause. This move comes as part of Marseille’s efforts to revamp their squad following a disappointing 2023-24 campaign, resulting in an eighth-place finish in the French league. The club initiated this rebuilding phase by appointing former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi as their new head coach.
Furthermore, Marseille previously made an offer of €27m (£23m/$29m) for Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah, which was rejected by the London club. Despite their interest in Nketiah, reports from L’Équipe suggest that Marseille has agreed on personal terms with the forward. It remains uncertain, however, whether the club will submit an improved bid for Nketiah, especially if they secure the transfer of Moukoko, who operates in a similar position. This development comes as Marseille looks to strengthen their squad for the upcoming 2024-25 season, with hopes of a more successful campaign under their new leadership.
