Official: Alexander Sorloth signs in as new Atletico Madrid player from Villarreal

The transfer of Alexander Sorloth from Villareal to Atletico Madrid marks a significant move in the football world. Atletico Madrid announced on Saturday the official signing of Alexander Sorloth from Villareal for a substantial fee of 30 million euros plus variables, solidifying his position in Simeone’s side for the next four seasons.

The club’s statement expressed the culmination of the agreement between Atletico Madrid and Villarreal, which brings Sorloth to their ranks until 2028. The 28-year-old Norwegian international is recognized for his prowess as a forward, attributed to his impressive 195 cm height, highlighting his physical capabilities on the field.

Having successfully completed the medical examination at the Sports Medicine Unit of Vithas I Invictum, Sorloth is poised to join the Red and White squad for their upcoming trip to Hong Kong, where they are scheduled to play pre-season friendlies. This acquisition comes in the wake of Alvaro Morata’s departure from the club following the European Championship, effectively positioning Sorloth as a key replacement for the team.

Sorloth’s journey in professional football began with Rosenborg in 2013, paving the way for his experience in various leagues such as the Eredivisie, Premier League, Jupiler Pro League, and Bundesliga before his transition to La Liga. Notably, he has previously played for Real Sociedad and Villareal, where he made a significant impact by scoring 26 goals and providing six assists in 41 appearances during the 2023 season, underscoring his strength and proficiency as a forward on the field.
