Official: Yan Couto joins Borussia Dortmund on €25m deal plus €5m add-ons from Man City

The transfer of Manchester City’s Brazilian right-back Yan Couto to Borussia Dortmund marks a significant milestone in the young footballer’s career. The deal, which consists of an initial loan followed by a £25.3m (30m euros) obligation to buy, reflects both the potential seen in Couto and the investment Dortmund is making in his talents.

Couto, at the age of 22, expressed his elation at the opportunity, stating, “For me it’s a dream come true.” This move represents a new chapter for the player, who originally joined City in 2020 but had not yet made an appearance for the Premier League champions.

In his own words, “Borussia Dortmund is a special club. Every child in Brazil knows how great this club is.” His excitement to wear the BVB shirt for the first time and to experience the vibrant atmosphere of the stadium resonates with his passion for the sport and the allure of playing for such a renowned team.

Prior to this transfer, Couto’s journey included a loan to fellow City Football Group outfit Girona for a year, as well as two additional campaigns with them following a year with Portuguese side Braga. His efforts notably contributed to Girona’s qualification for this season’s Champions League, showcasing his capabilities on an international stage.

As Couto embarks on this new phase of his career, his dedication and talent are sure to captivate fans and pundits alike, as he continues to make his mark on the football world.
