𝐎𝐅𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋 | West Ham complete signing of Guido Rodriguez as free agent

Argentine midfielder Guido Rodriguez has officially joined West Ham, bringing with him an impressive track record of success. Having played a pivotal role in Argentina’s victorious World Cup campaign in 2022 and this year’s Copa America triumph, Rodriguez is poised to make a significant impact in the Premier League.

His signing on a free transfer from Real Betis marks an exciting acquisition for West Ham. The seasoned 30-year-old departed Real Betis after an extensive stint of four-and-a-half seasons, following the expiry of his contract in June. With a two-year deal and the possibility of an extra year, Rodriguez’s commitment reflects the club’s long-term vision and strengthens the midfield lineup.

West Ham’s technical director, Tim Steidten, expressed confidence in Rodriguez’s ability to adapt to the rigorous demands of the Premier League. His arrival bolsters the team’s midfield prowess and adds depth to their squad, enhancing their competitive edge for the upcoming season.

“This is a massive moment for West Ham United in bringing a player of Guido’s pedigree to the club. He is a player I have admired for a long time, and we couldn’t be happier to have completed the deal to bring him to east London,” said Steidten.

“Guido is a defensive midfielder whose intelligence in and out of possession is a real strength to his game. He is also a proven winner, having won the World Cup, Copa America and Finalissima with Argentina, so to have secured his services is a big statement of intent by the Club.

“We feel it is important to strike a balance between youth and experience across the squad, and adding a player with the experience and leadership qualities of Guido will be a real asset to the club moving forwards.

“It’s a busy period in this transfer window, and the board are continuing to show they’re backing us to bring quality players to West Ham United.”

Rodriguez’s addition to the squad further solidifies West Ham’s ambitious transfer activity this summer. He becomes the sixth notable signing for the club, joining the likes of defender Max Kilman, winger Luis Guilherme, goalkeeper Wes Foderingham, as well as wingers Crysencio Summerville and Niclas Fullkrug. The concerted efforts in strengthening the team’s capabilities are a testament to West Ham’s commitment to elevating their performance and vying for success in domestic and international competitions.
