David de Gea is set to join Fiorentina a year after leaving Manchester United

Former Manchester United Goalkeeper David de Gea is reportedly considering a move to Italian side Fiorentina following the expiration of his contract at Manchester United. The 33-year-old goalkeeper, who spent last season on the sidelines, has been the subject of much speculation regarding his next move. Despite releasing training footage in recent months, including sessions at National League club Altrincham, there has been no official announcement regarding his future.

While there have been rumors of a potential move to Major League Soccer in the United States, sources indicate that nothing has been confirmed with Fiorentina yet. De Gea, who made 545 appearances for United over 13 years, was a key player in the team’s 2012-13 Premier League title victory, as well as their successes in the League Cups, FA Cup, and the Europa League.

Fiorentina, currently owned by businessman Rocco Commisso, have not won a major trophy since 2001 when they secured the Coppa Italia. Nonetheless, they have been formidable contenders in recent years, reaching the UEFA Conference League finals and currently competing in the play-off round of the same competition this season. It remains to be seen whether De Gea will join Fiorentina and contribute to their ambitions in the upcoming season.
