Everton Striker Neal Maupay Condemns Verbal Abuse at Euston Station

Everton striker Neal Maupay recently addressed a disturbing video depicting a group of supporters verbally abusing Toffees players at London Euston train station. The footage captured fans shouting and swearing at several players as they walked past after Everton’s 4-0 defeat at Tottenham.

Maupay, who was an unused substitute at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, shared his thoughts on the video, highlighting the abnormality of receiving such mistreatment in any other profession. He expressed his dismay by stating, “Imagine another job where it’s normalized to get abuse like this. Hanging around at a train station to scream at men who are trying their best.”

In addition to the negative behavior, the video also portrayed some fans high-fiving the players. This contrasting conduct shed light on the varied attitudes within the fanbase.

Several Everton fans voiced their disapproval of the supporters’ actions in the video. The Everton Fans’ Forum conveyed their condemnation, emphasizing that the deplorable behavior was exhibited by a small faction, yet it unjustly brought negative attention to all Evertonians. The forum pledged ongoing support to fans, including forum members, in efforts to cultivate a positive pre-match atmosphere in the stands. Their ultimate goal is to enhance support for the players on the pitch, ultimately contributing to a more constructive environment for everyone involved.

The Everton Fans’ Forum said: “We echo those condemning the scenes at Euston Station on Saturday.

“The behaviour was conducted by a very small minority and put Evertonians in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.

“We will continue to support the fans, some of whom form part of the forum, in working to raise a positive pre-match atmosphere in the stands with the overall aim of best assisting the players on the pitch.”
