US Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley secured a surprising victory at Castle Pines during the BMW Championship

The BMW Championship showcased the incredible talent of 50 players, but only 30 will advance to next week’s Tour Championship to vie for the impressive $25 million top prize. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler reigns as the top seed, while the recently named USA’s 2025 Ryder Cup captain, Keegan Bradley, secured a remarkable fourth-place finish following his unexpected victory.

Bradley’s journey to triumph was particularly noteworthy, as he barely made it into the 50-man field as the final qualifier. The 38-year-old’s even-par 72 in the final round at Castle Pines on Sunday solidified his position, finishing 12 under and one stroke ahead of Ludvig Åberg, Sam Burns, and Adam Scott in a tie for second.

The pivotal moment came when Bradley took the lead with a par on the 537-yard, par-four 10th hole, breaking the tie with Scott, who unfortunately three-putted for bogey on the challenging hole. The impressive performances extended beyond Bradley, with Åberg positioned fifth, Burns securing ninth place with the best round of the day at seven-under 65, and Scott claiming 14th place.

In contrast, the world No. 1, Scottie Scheffler, finished tied for 33rd at the BMW Championship, but he enters next week’s event as the top seed with a starting position at 10 under par. Xander Schauffele, following a tied-fifth finish, will be second at eight under par, while Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama, despite withdrawing with a back injury, will hold third place at seven under.

Additionally, Rory McIlroy’s tied-11th finish secured him the sixth position to start the Tour Championship, as only the top 30 on the FedEx Cup points after the BMW Championship qualified for the season’s final tournament at East Lake. Notably, England’s Tommy Fleetwood succeeded in jumping from 31st to 22nd in the standings with a tied-fifth finish on eight under, securing an entry to the prestigious event.

Even with a disappointing week, two-time major winner Justin Thomas managed to secure the 30th position in the field, while Brian Harman, the 2023 Open champion, narrowly missed out in 31st spot. The intense competition and surprising outcomes at the BMW Championship have set the stage for an exhilarating Tour Championship, promising compelling golfing action as the top players compete for the coveted title and the substantial prize.
