Victor Osimhen’s relationship with Napoli has been severely damaged by the collapse of his proposed transfer to Al-Ahli. Osimhen had reportedly come to terms with Al-Ahli on a lucrative contract worth €40 million per season over the next four years, totaling €160 million. However, the deal fell through when Napoli insisted on an additional €5 million on top of the €80 million that Al-Ahli had already offered, as reported by Sky Sport in Italy. This demand led to Al-Ahli walking away from the negotiations.

Following the breakdown of the transfer, it is reported that Osimhen and his agent reacted with anger, with the agent making heated phone calls to club president Aurelio De Laurentiis and sporting director Giovanni Manna, as detailed by Arena Napoli.

The strained relationship between Osimhen and the club seems to have reached a point where he will not be reintegrated into Antonio Conte’s team, especially with the arrival of Romelu Lukaku to take his place at the Serie A side. Despite being linked with a potential move to Chelsea on deadline day, the deal also fell through, leaving Osimhen in a difficult position as the transfer window closed for Europe’s top five leagues. While the Saudi transfer window remains open until September 2, it appears unlikely that Al-Ahli will pursue Osimhen again.

At 25 years old, Osimhen now finds himself in limbo with no immediate prospects for a transfer. Despite his impressive track record of 76 goals in 133 appearances for Napoli, Conte appears poised to sideline him from the team. Unless another Saudi club makes an offer, Osimhen may face the possibility of being without first-team football until the January transfer window.
