𝐎𝐅𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋: Mauricio Pochettino has been officially confirmed as the new head coach of USA

Mauricio Pochettino, the former manager of Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea, has received the prestigious appointment as the head coach of the USA men’s national team. This significant move positions him to lead the American squad into the highly anticipated home World Cup in 2026, when the tournament will unfold across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, marking a momentous occasion for football in North America.

Following his departure from Chelsea by mutual consent at the end of the last season, Pochettino is set to take on his first international role at the age of 52. With a rich coaching career spanning 15 years, which includes impressive stints at Espanyol, Southampton, and Paris Saint-Germain, his appointment brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the USA men’s national team.

“The decision to join U.S. Soccer wasn’t just about football for me; it’s about the journey that this team and this country are on,” Pochettino said.

“The energy, the passion, and the hunger to achieve something truly historic here – those are the things that inspired me. The opportunity to lead the U.S. Men’s National Team, in front of fans who are just as passionate as the players, is something I couldn’t pass up.

“I see a group of players full of talent and potential, and together, we’re going to build something special that the whole nation can be proud of.”

This appointment comes as a result of the departure of Gregg Berhalter, who was relieved of his duties after the USA failed to progress from their group at this summer’s Copa America. Pochettino’s inaugural match at the helm of the USA team is scheduled to be a home friendly against Panama in Austin, Texas on October 12, followed by an away friendly in Mexico three days later.

The significance of this new chapter in Pochettino’s career and the potential impact on the future of American soccer is palpable, marking an exciting development for football enthusiasts both in the USA and around the world.
