Leicester City have been dealt a significant blow after Steve Cooper confirmed that Abdul Fatawu has suffered a serious knee injury, which will unfortunately sideline him for the remainder of the season.
The forward has emerged as one of the bright sparks for the Foxes this season, showcasing his talent and potential in various matches. Unfortunately, Fatawu was forced to exit during the first half of Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola on Friday. Following his departure from the game, he returned to the midlands for necessary treatment, marking a disheartening turn in his campaign.
“An ACL injury rules him out for the rest of the season,” Cooper stated during his press conference on Thursday. The confirmation of such a serious injury is not only a setback for the player but also a concern for the entire team.
“It is a serious injury and to happen at a young age is a blow for him and us. We now have to support him in every way to make his rehab and return as smooth as possible,” Cooper explained, highlighting the importance of providing utmost support for Fatawu. The hope is that he will come back a stronger player and person, equipped with resilience gained from overcoming this challenge.
“Initially everyone will be upset when you lose a good player but at the same time we have to respond, roll our sleeves up and respond,” he added, emphasizing the need for the team to collectively step up in Fatawu’s absence.
In addition to Fatawu’s injury, Leicester is also sweating on the fitness of Jamie Vardy ahead of the weekend’s crucial clash with Chelsea. The implications of these injuries have left the coaching staff and fans anxious about the team’s prospects in the upcoming matches.
