Alphonso Davies Faces Driving Ban After Alleged Drunk Driving Incident

Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies is currently facing a driving ban after being allegedly caught driving under the influence earlier this week. The incident reportedly took place in the early hours of Friday when police stopped him while he was driving a Lamborghini Urus, a luxury vehicle valued at approximately €216,000.

According to reports from Bild and Sky Sport, authorities acted on suspicions that Davies had been drinking before getting behind the wheel. Following the stop, he was subjected to a breathalyzer test, which revealed a blood alcohol level of 0.6 per mille. While this level does not classify as a criminal offence in Germany, it does result in administrative penalties. As a consequence, Davies will face a one-month driving ban along with a fine of €500 (£415/$527).

The timing of this incident is notable as it occurs just days before Bayern is set to face their arch-rivals, Dortmund, in what is anticipated to be a highly competitive match in the Bundesliga. Despite the legal troubles, the full-back trained with his teammates on Friday and is expected to travel with the squad, indicating that head coach Vincent Kompany may still consider him for selection.

Bayern Munich remains the only unbeaten team in the Bundesliga this season, a significant achievement as they strive to match or even exceed Bayer Leverkusen’s undefeated campaign from the previous term. Thus far, Bayern has managed to secure points in all but two of their matches, showcasing their strength and resilience on the pitch.

Reports suggest that Bayern Munich will not impose any internal sanctions on Davies following this incident. This decision strongly indicates that the Canadian international is likely to participate in some form against Dortmund during Saturday evening’s clash, as the team looks to maintain their impressive start to the season while also contending with the challenges posed by their rivals. The outcome of this match will be critical for both teams as they navigate the competitive landscape of the Bundesliga.
