According to the official Barcelona website, “The first team player Lamine Yamal received a blow to the right ankle during the game against CD Leganes on Sunday. Tests carried out on Monday have revealed that the player has a grade 1 injury to the anterior tibiofibular ligament in the ankle. The player is expected to be out for three to four weeks.” This diagnosis underscores the severity of the injury, putting a significant dent in the team’s attacking options as they navigate a crucial period in the season.
Compounding the issue, Yamal’s injury comes only two weeks after he made his return to action following a previous three-week absence caused by another setback to the same ankle.
