Omar Marmoush: Man City Agree Deal in Principle with Forward

Manchester City are actively pursuing the signing of Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt, with both clubs reportedly in discussions over a transfer. The German side is holding out for a substantial fee of around £67 million (€80 million) for the talented forward, who has had an impressive season in the Bundesliga, netting 13 goals and establishing himself as a key player for his team. His goal-scoring prowess places him second in the league behind only Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane, and he also ranks highly across the top five European leagues for goal involvements, trailing only his national teammate, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

Omar Marmoush, who is 25 years old and represents Egypt internationally, has already agreed in principle to join Manchester City. However, the move hinges on finding a common ground between the two clubs regarding the transfer fee. Manchester City’s management, alongside Marmoush’s representatives, believes that a more realistic transfer fee would be in the range of £42 million to £50 million (€50-€60 million), which is significantly lower than what Eintracht Frankfurt is demanding.

It is noteworthy that Marmoush does not have a release clause in his contract, meaning that Frankfurt is in a strong position to negotiate. It is expected that any offers that don’t meet their asking price will be summarily dismissed, particularly as Frankfurt currently sits third in the Bundesliga standings and is eager to retain their top talents for the remainder of the season.

In addition to the pursuit of Marmoush, Manchester City is reportedly in talks with Palmeiras regarding a potential transfer for young centre-back Vitor Reis. The discussions are still in their infancy, but there is optimism within the City camp about signing the 18-year-old, who has already demonstrated considerable promise. Palmeiras is believed to be looking for a fee between £33.5 million to £40 million for the emerging star, who made 22 appearances last season and scored two goals. Reis also has international experience, having captained Brazil’s U17 team at the U17 World Cup held in 2023, further showcasing his potential at a young age.

Both potential signings reflect Manchester City’s strategic interest in bolstering their squad with skilled players who can contribute both immediately and in the long term, as they look to maintain their competitive edge both domestically and in European competitions.
