Lazio dismisses their falconer for displaying a prosthetic penis on social media, resulting in the cessation of traditional eagle flights during matches

Lazio have recently made the controversial decision to dismiss their long-serving falconer, Juan Bernabe, following his alarming social media activity. This decision comes on the heels of Bernabe posting videos and images related to a surgery he underwent to enhance sexual performance, which raised eyebrows both within the club and among fans.

Bernabe, who has been with Lazio since 2010, held a unique position overseeing the club’s beloved eagle mascot, symbolizing strength and pride, especially during match days at the Stadio Olimpico. The club’s eagle, named Olimpia, has been a central figure in Lazio’s identity, soaring above the stadium to rally fans. Bernabe’s actions have forced the club to reconsider his role, as they attempt to protect the integrity of their brand and maintain a respectable image.

In an official statement, SS Lazio expressed their shock at Bernabe’s behavior. The statement emphasized that the club had decided to terminate all relationships with him “with immediate effect” due to the gravity of his actions. The club acknowledged that losing Bernabe would undoubtedly affect supporters, especially with the eagle’s absence in upcoming games, but stressed that such conduct could not be tolerated—particularly from individuals associated with a key symbol of the club.

Lazio said in a statement on the club’s official website: “SS Lazio Spa, shocked to see the photographic and video images of Mr. Juan Bernabe and to read the statements that accompanied them, announces that it has interrupted, with immediate effect, all relations with this individual, given the seriousness of his behaviour.

“The Company is aware of the pain, shared by all, that the loss of the eagle in the next home games will cause to the fans, but believes that it is not possible to be associated, all of us, and especially with the historical symbol of the eagle, with a subject that, with its initiative, has made the continuation of the relationship inadmissible.”

In response to his dismissal, Bernabe defended himself vigorously, asserting that the surgery was a matter of health rather than a bid for fame. He commented, “The operation does not make me a porn star, I had a health issue.” He also expressed disbelief at the club’s reaction, claiming that the club president was not upset by the content of the photos. Bernabe previously described the posting as a private matter that was misinterpreted once it circulated online, stating, “I put the video on my private profile so it’s a private thing. If people then circulate it what can I do? My conscience is clear.”

As the season progresses, Lazio finds themselves in a competitive position, currently in fourth place in the Serie A standings, and are actively pursuing a Champions League qualification spot. They are set to face a crucial match against Verona this Sunday, followed by a Europa League clash against Real Sociedad on January 23. The management will undoubtedly seek to move forward from this controversy as they focus on their sporting objectives and ensuring a positive atmosphere for their fans.
