Martin Zubimendi: Gunners Targeting Real Sociedad Star This Summer

Arsenal is reportedly closing in on an agreement to acquire Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi during the summer, as indicated by Sky Sports News. While the Gunners are diligently pursuing new signings, their primary focus right now is on securing a striker during this transfer window.

Zubimendi has had an impressive season, featuring in 22 matches, and holds a release clause of around £51 million. Arsenal’s proactive planning for the upcoming summer reveals their concerns about vital midfielders Thomas Partey and Jorginho, both of whom will enter the final six months of their contracts. Although there were hopes of finalizing a transfer in this window, it appears that a compromise has been reached, allowing Zubimendi to continue with Sociedad for the rest of the season.

Last summer, the player was closely linked to a move to Liverpool, but he ultimately decided to remain in Spain, a decision being revisited as Arsenal looks to strengthen their midfield ahead of next season.

Simultaneously, Arsenal is actively seeking a new striker to improve their attack, particularly in light of Gabriel Jesus’s injury. The north London club is exploring both long-term and short-term options and is being judicious in its approach to avoid overpaying in a market where clubs are inclined to elevate prices.

One of the players under consideration is Randal Kolo Muani from PSG. Reports suggest that Arsenal is among various clubs monitoring the 26-year-old, who has recently been sidelined at Paris Saint-Germain due to coach Luis Enrique’s inclination for a false nine formation. PSG is open to letting Kolo Muani go but prefers either a permanent transfer or a loan deal with an obligation to buy.

Arsenal’s interest in Kolo Muani is not unique; Tottenham is also pursuing the France international, and Manchester United has yet to follow up on their initial inquiries. Furthermore, teams like Juventus, AC Milan, and Borussia Dortmund are also in the fray for his signature, indicating a competitive landscape for his acquisition. As the transfer window continues, Arsenal’s ability to skillfully manage these situations will be vital for enhancing their squad as they strive to improve their chances in both domestic and European competitions.
